Wow! Has it been a year all ready? What an amazing year it has been. Over this year, I have been exposed to so many wonderful things. The highlight of course, was the trip to New Mexico. Some would call me crazy for going all the way out there on just a vision. I was a basket case those first few days as I kept going over and over in my mind the ceremony I was asked to perform. I felt I had to be there at an exact time and place. When the day came though, I gave myself up to the spirits to guide. I think, had I not done that, we would not have stopped for that poor Dine' man walking along the road. Somehow, I knew the spirits would understand the need to help another. He had such a long walk which we hopefully made that much shorter. The rest of the trip was truly blessed. The weather cooperated or in the case of our visit to Acoma, guided us. Due to the rains, we arrived too late to take the tour of Sky City and had to stay over at the casino. There was a faint drizzle the next morning that kept most tourists away, so we had the pleasure of being given a private tour by one of the elders, a wonderful gentleman named Orlando.
I have been truly blessed to have been able to bring these messages that have filtered through me. I have been honored to have taken this journey this year. Many of you have found inspiration in the writings of the Year of Unity, and the Reconnecting series. One person told me that I should put them in a book and sell them. This would not be right. These words are the words of the spirits and a gift. I could never charge for that. The wonder of Open Source though is that it brought us Open Office. Open Office allows me to export to a pdf. So I think what I will do is to take the writings and put them together in a pdf and find a place where people can go and download them. While I will place a copyright on it, I will release it to the Public Domain. It is as I said, a gift and the public domain is where it belongs to be shared freely. Stay tuned. I will include in it, the writings on the Year of Unity and Reconnecting. I think I may add a few other selected writings such as Nickels and Dimes and Do Not Fear the Shadows. Many thanks to all who have commented and given feedback. This is what helps us to learn and grow from each other.
It is inevitable as one comes to the end, that one looks back at where you have come from. I look back over this past year and the writings I have been blessed to share. I see how they have touched some, made others see things in a different way, or inspired yet others to make changes in their lives. I do not lay claim to the words I wrote, only that I got out of the way and allowed the words to flow. I am only the scribe. I wonder though, how much of a change these writings have made in this world? Have they ignited a spark? Have they brought anyone together? I still see the same conflicts, the same disrepsects, the same abuses as when I first began. Have I made a difference? Oh, I know I have made a difference with my kids. Though, with them moving into those teen years, sometimes you wonder.
The whole premise of this series was to bring the people together. It was for us to move beyond colors, religions, nations, or any of the illusions of separation that we have built around ourselves. It was intended to get people thinking about a different world. A world where everyone lived in harmony and balance. A world where the words hunger, homelessness, and poverty no longer existed. A world where we moved beyond the desire for material gain and into the desire for spiritual gain.
So many prophesies are pointing to this being a time of renewal. A crossroads, in which we will have to make a choice. We may continue on the path of destruction, waste, and separation, or we can come together as one people, one heart, one spirit and bring about the world that deep in our hearts, we all really want. As I look around and see yet more and more woodland destroyed for yet another Lowes, Target, Walmart, or other, it breaks my heart. We all have seen the signs, the polar caps melting, unusual weather patterns, extinction of many species. We ignore it though, as we continue to take and take. The Hindu call this the Kali Yuga. It is the time of Kali the destroyer. When does it stop? When will the people come together and say enough! I hear about the oil sands in Canada. They talk about how it can be the next great repository of oil. All we have to do is to extract it, which was not feasible when the oil was cheap but now that it nears $100 a barrel, it becomes more profitable to do so. At what cost? From what I have read it will take huge amounts of water to reclaim that oil. What is done with this water afterwards? Is it left to seep into the water table? The lakes? The streams? Oh, to listen to those who stand to profit, the environmental impact will be low compared to the billions to be made. What about finding new sources of energy that won't destroy. Oh, and nuclear is not the answer either. As we have seen in the Grant, NM area, uranimum mining has done a lot of damage. Often times, when the mines are closed down, they are abandoned and left open for anyone or anything who comes near it to be contaminated. Do we honestly believe that those who seek the oil from the tar sands have our best interests in mind? Do you honestly think that they wish to preserve the environment?
This was part of the reason for the Reconnecting series. It was to change the mindset of the people. It was to get people to stop looking at the earth as simply a resource to be used and discarded. In that series, you were asked to reconnect with a tree, a rock, a worm, and many of the other relations we have in this world. It was to get people to stop looking at the world as their personal playthings to be used and thrown away. If we started to see trees as a relation, how much harder would it be to destroy them for yet another Wally World? If we started to see the lakes and streams as having spirit and being a relation, how could we even think of dumping waste into them? If we considered, all the animals our relations, would we be so quick to decimate the forests and wetlands for another Lowes or Home Depot?
Many indigenous cultures around the world, understood these principals. They knew that they had to live in balance and harmony with their environment or it would no longer support them. We have been living out of balance for so long now, the earth is getting to the point where it can no longer support us. Yet, instead of putting our efforts into finding newer and cleaner ways to produce energy, we continue to focus on finding those fossil fuels whose use is destroying our planet.
Whether you call this planet, Earth Mother, Pacha Mama, Grandmother, or just plain home, it is a living entity. If we continue on this path, it only has one reaction left, that is to shake us off like so many fleas. What will it take for us to return to walking in balance and harmony with all that is? Will it take a cataclysm brought on by our abuse of the planet?
One of the other "lessons" of Reconnecting, was the coming together of us. Unity. If we are to change our path, it is going to take all of us working together. All of us standing up to the governments and corporations and saying we aren't going to take it anymore. Please, if you do nothing else today, I ask that you take a moment and reflect on what has been written. Think about your neighborhood, what kind of development is going on? Think about the streams and creeks near you. Do you dare to reach down and scoop up a handful of water and drink? Take a deep breath. Is the air pure and fresh or does it leave you wheezing? Now consider this. Is this the world you wish to leave to your children, grandchildren, their children?
All the prophesies speak of this time, the crossroads. It is time to make a decision.
While this series, the Year of Unity and Reconnecting is coming to an end, it also sparks a new beginning. It all depends on us. Which path will you choose? I pray that we start to see changes. Changes that say that we are ready to move forward in a new way, a balanced way. Maybe, this coming year will bring a year of wonderful new discoveries. Maybe it will bring a year of coming into balance and harmony. Maybe it will bring into being, The Year of Hope.
My heart to your heart, one heart, one spirit.
