that beard registry is a kick! I couldn't find a way to search by number though (only by things like location or event). do you have a link to your page? I think it's neato. :)
re: learning curve... there's no rush. This site isn't going anywhere and people absorb the web thing at different rates. Just take your time and take it in digestible chunks. :) I've found the easiest thing is to pick one thing ... like say uploading a photo... and just learn how to do that (either by following the instructions from the FAQ or by winging it). Then maybe awhile later pick something else you'd like to do and learn that. It's easier when you dissect it into smaller tasks than trying to learn the ins and outs of a whole site at once. :) The web should work for you, not the other way around.
to summarize:
1) invite your wife
2) add your wife as a friend on this network
3) have your wife accept the invite
4) use the Ning bar above to view your friends, thus finding your wife on Ning. :)
Ning is a different kind of setup and it seems strange until you get the hang of it. :) My post here may help clear up the confusion regarding what Ning is and how it's used: Woo! people (and pics!)
See my reply to Briar Rose on page 2, and my reply to Dusty Nipples on page 1. :)
It sounds like you and your wife are on different Ning networks, or she hasn't yet joined a network. Easiest way for you two to find each other would be for you to send her an invite to this network (enter her email addy into the box on the Invite Friends page above). If she's not on tribe, just have her note that in the Tribe Name field on the profile. :)
Once she's part of this network you can add her as a friend (see FAQs). Once she accepts the friend invite you can find her in your friends list in the Ning bar above.
Clicking her name your Ning area will then give you a list of all other networks she's on (if any). That way you can keep track of each other.
That may sound confusing, but actually it's straightforward and will make more sense when you're doing it. It's just round-about to explain. :)

Feel free to invite any Tribe friends or like minded folks to this network. Like "Tom" I've sent you a friend invite here. :)
The Welcome New Members! thread should get you started.
