There was a Lunar eclipse last night. Wasn't a big one from here, but the sky was crystal clear, and it was a decent show. Anyone else out last night? You know, it would seem, as Moonlight is just reflected Sunlight - it would be fatal to a vampi...

Thank you Edward for the compliment on my photos, you might find this odd but my first online name was pheonixmom for the pheonix rising. I have PTSD from childhood abuse and the misnomer that I caused my mothers death of cancer. Irrational but I blocked it and believed it until I was in my 30s. I read your blog on your foster daughter and can relate to what she is going through. I can tell you this I can and do see the love shown to me and it does matter. Love and Light MeShell

In The Spirit of the Season

When I am estranged from others, when walls rise between us,
I fade and wither like a leaf fallen from its tree.
I need the friendship and warmth of understanding;
to be needed, admired, and cherished.

May my eyes be open to the beauty that shines within all who walk the Earth.
Keep me from imagined hurts, from seeing foes where friends may be found.
Give me insight into my own heart, so I may rid myself of all that weakens me.

Help me to be patient when I am misunderstood, open to the thought… Continue

Kurzweil and evolution

Kurzweil states in "The Singularity Is Near" (with a bit of waffling) evolution as proceeding from the simple to the more complex. “ Evolution has shown, however, that the general trend toward greater order does typically result in greater complexity“ A chart is provided, showing the progression from single cell organisms to we lofty humans, the most complex of all. Makes perfect sense. We progressed from primate beginnings, which arose from mammals, etc., etc.

But there is one point on that gr… Continue

INTELLIGENT DESIGN - Recall Necessary?

As I was having blood drawn for another check on cholesterol, electrolytes. triglycerides, etc, etc.; plus the usual blood pressure, pulse, weight and an EEG thrown in for good measure; I began thinking about the general health of the average human being. Taking a personal inventory of a few facts; I wear glasses, have had a five-way heart bypass (and a couple of stents), no gall bladder, and lower back troubles if not careful if lifting heavy objects. Last year got hit with Influenza A, and had… Continue

Proper Behavior, and Positions of Authority

An example -

Judges have a great deal of authority. We look to Judges for wisdom and fairness when dealing with matters of the Law. Does a Judge deserve a private life? Certainly.
Are a Judge’s personal opinions freely his own, and can they be stated with no connection to the fact he is a Judge? The answer is . . . no.

For a Judge to make a racial statement, and when told that it’s offensive by a group of women proclaim “They’re just a bunch of ho’s from the hood.” reflects not only on his per… Continue
