because donuts make us sad. wow, 1000 members!

I have recently started spinning yarn by hand using the oldest known spinning tool in any culture (after fingers, that is), the spindle. It's fascinating and compelling, and I find myself lusting after a fancy modern deluxe spinning wheel with all the "bells and whistles"! Not to mention my very own flocks, herds and litters of creatures whose fibrous leavings (or takings, in most cases) can be spun into wondrous colorful vibrant yarns. What I will do with these yarns I have yet to decide. I am torn between weaving and knitting, so I guess I will probably be one of those crafters who have so many projects going at once that I can't even remember what any given one is supposed to become in the end...

I am most interested in the ancient ways and means of textile production, although I have no qualms about applying those techniques to modern designs, or vice versa. In short, I am interested in all manner of crafting, and the aquisition of knowledge concerning said, and I would like to share this journey of discovery with anyone who cares to participate! What say you?

(when, that is, there are any of "you" to say anything at all...)
