I'm not clear if Tribe is completely belly up and gone for good.
Just last night, someone e-mailed me to let me know that I'm unsubscribed to Tribe.
Although I've tried to get to Tribe for more than two weeks now, there is no show of action over there.
So, I would like to know: is Tribe defunct?
Or am I paranoid because I think that I've been booted out of Tribe for defecting to Tribe Refugees.
Photo from trash can at Athabasca Falls, Alberta Canada. Thanks to Naked Michael for taking me to the Canadian Rockies. This has nothing to do with the post; i just wanted to use the photo.
Darren McKeeman is still running the site. This is the same guy who got paid a salary for a year to fix the site. During his watch, the site went from minor technical problems to complete massive failure. He blames it on the code. The same code that Cisco paid some good money to purchase. He blames it on the servers, though they seemed to work for years before Darren touched. He blames it on Pincus, because Pincus hurt his feelings in an email.
The common denominator is Darren McKeeman. I defy anyone to do some research on McKeeman and not see that he is a flake.
Supposedly, Pincus has been inking a deal with a group looking to revive tribe.net. Darran said he can't talk about what happened now, but that: he was training a replacement, yet he is not leaving, but no longer works for Utah Street. This leads me to believe that while these new owners are ALSO still ignoring tribe and it users, and unable/unwilling to fix the problems that left people unsubscribed, unable to recreate an account and basically leaving tribe.net more stable but paralyzed, its someone else at the helm, utilizing Darren as the knower of code. I tink Pincus is free of it now too, but no one has said what's up in two weeks or so since this went down. Even Darren is largely absent.
Either the place is a dead zone, or something 'big' is going to rear up out of nowhere soon when they finish coding some new pages with new TOU/TOS/About pages. That's my conspiracy theory. Either way, I can't stomach going there much at the moment. For them to do a deal and keep users in the dark despite people asking whats up...just doesn't bode well to me...
