and it says it will be back up at 5:15 PM.
It is now 6:05 PM and no tribe.
So, where's all the refugees at?
Don't tell me I'm in the wrong camp! How will I survive?
AAHHHHHHHHH
a place I used to work at used to reuse their backup tapes....I think every two weeks they'd overwrite one. At one point we found out that the backups weren't working...so if tribe backups work like that...and they thought they'd been reusing backup tapes but no new data had gone on them since June (or maybe partial or corrupted data had gone on them)...well, it is possible.
I have noticed that they frequently have mysterious announcements that never get announced. The latest mysterious announcement is supposed to be made in a few days.
Darren's words (this past week) about an announcement:

We've been having a lot of trouble with certain equipment lately that the database uses, but the good news is that my replacement equipment arrived today! I am off to the colo facility to try and get the site up by midnight tonight. I want it live because there's an announcement to make -- I'll make it here as well, it's pretty important and I know everyone is going to want to hear it.

Yeuh, I have to preface this by saying I had a fever of 101 this week and I totally screwed up the database restore. I will fix it tonight, it should only take a couple of hours.

Yes, I know all about it.
No, it's not permanent. I'm taking the site offline tonight to fix it.
Pretty much everything from today will be lost though -- i figure this is a minor inconvenience but at least I can pretend a whole day of complaining never happened. I am busy fixing stuff. Supposedly there is an announcement coming later today or over the weekend about tribe.net's future, cross your fingers.
